¿Por qué el chocolate es tóxico para perros y gatos?

El chocolate contiene dos sustancias que pueden dañar a perros y gatos:
Teobromina y Cafeína
Estas sustancias se metabolizan muy lento en las mascotas, lo que permite que se acumule en su cuerpo hasta alcanzar niveles tóxicos.
Entre más oscuro y puro el chocolate más dañino es para las mascotas.
¿Cuáles son los síntomas de intoxicación por chocolate?
Los síntomas de intoxicación aparecen entre las 6 a 12 horas después de haber ingerido el chocolate.
Dosis peligrosa
1 onza de chocolate con leche por cada 2.2 lb. de peso, es una dosis potencialmente fatal para nuestras mascotas.
